The Agricultural Leadership Grant supports leadership development activities for students enrolled in agriculture courses at the middle or high school levels, both in formal and informal educational settings.

These grants aim to equip students with the skills necessary to become future leaders in the agriculture and natural resources fields. Up to $1,000 is available per grant.

Eligibility Criteria 

Students must be currently enrolled in middle or high school agriculture courses.

Programs can be part of formal school curricula or informal educational settings.

The grant is intended to support organized leadership programs rather than individual student projects.

Application Deadlines

Applications are accepted three times in 2025:

  • June 27
  • September 12
  • December 12

All applications must be submitted by 4:00 PM on the respective deadline dates.

Application Process

Preparation: Ensure that your program aligns with the grant’s objectives of fostering leadership in agriculture among middle and high school students.

Submission: Complete the online application form available on the Maine Agriculture in the Classroom website. After successful submission, applicants will receive a confirmation email with a copy of their submission. If you do not receive a confirmation, contact the grant administrators promptly.

Reporting Requirements

Grant recipients must submit a final report by August 1, 2025, or one year from the submission deadline, whichever comes first. The report must include:

  • A written summary of outcomes, assessment results, and the number of students, teachers, and volunteers involved.
  • 2–6 photographs with releases for printed and online use.
  • Copies of materials developed (if applicable).
  • Links to any media coverage.
  • Applicants must show how they credited the Maine Agricultural Specialty License Plate for funding.
  • They can request a one-time, no-cost extension via email before the due date if needed.Grantees must complete final reports before becoming eligible for additional funding.
